Here ya go Cori and others!
It is a long boat with a dragon's head and has a drummer to motivate and keep time - enter OATIE!
There are 20 paddlers max, 18 paddlers minimum. You run 3 races at 300M each. There are prizes. The entry fees benefit the Ronald McDonald house.
It is at Oak Mtn. State Park on 9-28 from 9am to approx. 3pm. I thought we could register has a Brest Cancer Survivor boat because we have two survivors on our team, but the whole boat has to be survivors so that is out. Therefore, the entry fee is $800 split 21 ways is $38 per person.

Cyn - how many do we have thus far?

The Raulstons said...

We have 12 so far.

Cynthia , those are great details. I will add some, there has to be 8+ females on the paddle and everyone with a paddle has to be 14+ years old

And if u YouTube dragon boat race those are world ranked racers. Don't be discouraged we would be off that pace :)
Right Cynthia ?

Well Drew - I would say we would be off the pace shown in the Asian Games Mens Dragon Boat Finals. Good gracious! There is a practice on Friday that we can attend. Awaiting details on that now. Also, ALL of the equipment is provided.
