Ellen Hawley's latest post- great improvement! Not shown here is a piece of paper with an unrecognizable scrawl at the top and a clear 'coca-cola!' written at bottom half of the page

First words

Written 8 hours ago by Ellen Hawley

Brad had a very restful day today. He slept for much of the day. This afternoon he seemed very frustrated and motioned that he wanted to write something. I am sure that the scribble at the top of the page says, "I love you, Ellen," but as you can see, he wrote coca cola. We don't really drink soft drinks, and Brad can't drink anything now, but I bought him a coke. We used a little sponge and put a taste of the coke on his tongue. Brad has no gag reflex, which is why he can't drink or eat. Also, his stomach is still not moving, at all. Perhaps he thought the coke might wake it up.

I left the hospital shortly after this to go home and spend time with the kids. They had a rough night last night and I think after 10 days, I needed to spend a night at home with them. It was very hard to leave the hospital, but once I got home, I realized that the kids are having a hard time with this as well.

I am excited about tomorrow and the new form of communication that we can explore. Thank you again for the prayers of healing. His lungs continue to improve and he got a good report back this morning on his CT Scan. We hope to be out of the ICU and onto the main hospital floor in a few days.

Whew! Ran Pack

Rd 1: 1 + 31
Rd 2: 1 + 20
Rd 3: 1 + 20
Total = 179

First round unbroken and then all over the place after that. Also, still new to the 1 pood KB so my range of motion is still in need of improvement. I actually did extra KB swings because I only counted the ones that actually got high enough.

Ha ha, Bill!! Dave and I ended our run last night with Macie in jogging stroller MINUS A WHEEL! It was hysterical, but we made it!! (me running back home with wheel and bolt in hand, Dave carrying Macie AND STROLLER!) First time n years I ran over 3 miles and it was awesome! Crossfit ROCKS! :)

round 1: 1+26
round 2: 1+12
round 3: 1+10
total: 153

kinda disappointed with my score. that pood felt extra heavy today. and like anna, i was having range of motion issues. only instead of doing extra, when i lost didn't swing high enough i just stopped and rested...for way too long. :)

congrats on the highest score anna! you smoked us all!
